'After a summer spending far too many hours in the blazing sun while surfing or drinking G&Ts in pub gardens, my combination skin is confused, with dry skin around my nose and lips, and large pores and acne on my forehead.

'It’s made me feel pretty self-conscious, so I’m now trying to heal the dry patches and treat acne by turning to my kitchen for ingredients that are non-toxic and food grade.

Manuka honey is great for hydrating and taking the redness out of spots so that I can feel confident with just a whisper of foundation and lipstick on.'

'When autumn arrives, I like to use gold and bronze tones around my eyes for a flattering shot of warmth. As this is also the season when central heating is switched on and the temperature drops, I like to avoid any dryness around my eyes by using eyeshadows which also soothe and hydrate.

'I’m currently loving the bareMinerals Eyeshadow Palette in Copper Muse - I love the colours as they compliment my skin tone. The shadows glide on smoothly and don’t crease or disappear by the end of the day.

I also like that the powder is enriched with cucumber extract and algae to keep dry skin at bay. The ultimate pairing for autumn? A bronze eye with a deep red or plum lip.'

'This autumn, I’m making a concerted effort to update my beauty routine to one containing fewer toxins, so as I finish my current cosmetics, I will be looking for alternatives which are full of cleaner products that are free of harsh chemicals and unnecessary additives.

'I’ve already made the switch to bareMinerals Original Foundation, which contains only five ingredients to add radiance, protect and nourish skin with no fillers and no parabens, mineral oil, talc, or animal-derived ingredients, but still performs really well, letting me build coverage where I have patches of redness. It also has a luminous finish so my skin looks healthy.'

'When the English summer decides to disappear, any whiff of a tan I had tends to go with it, which means I need to change up my look ASAP. I like to pair my paler shade with a dramatic red lip, which is my go-to for post-work events.

'The only problem? More make-up means more make-up remover - and potentially more cotton pads going into my bin.

'To minimise my waste, I've switched to removing make-up mostly with a flannel, which I then wash with my whites. I’ve also incorporated a konjac sponge into my weekly routine for gentle exfoliation.'
