ELLE | Glowing Skin Guide

Let's get one thing straight: skincare shouldn't be stressful. That lit-from-within glow may seem more elusive than ever when late nights and early starts make you feel as if you have no time at all. But don't panic, sunnier days are coming. Now is the time to prep your skin for the new season, but you needn't spend hours, or hundreds of pounds, on getting the complexion of your dreams. You can look after your skin and still have time to tick off your to-do list. An extra few minutes is all you need...

Feed your face

Feed your face

Better skin is not only about what we slather on our bodies; what we put inside them is important too. One of the easiest ways to get the glow is by adding healthy fats to your diet. "There are two types of healthy fats, both of which are important to keep your skin healthy," says Pandora Paloma, food coach and founder of Rooted London.

"Omega-6 fatty acids help to prevent skin dryness whilst Omega-3 fatty acids nourish the skin, giving it radiance and adding softness," she explains. Pandora recommends the 'SMASH' rule of adding 2 to 3 portions of sardines, mackerel, anchovies, salmon or herring to your diet each week.

She also champions avocados, hurrah. "They're a great source of biotin and can prevent dry skin as they help to hydrate cells from the inside out," she says. Pass the avo toast.

Do the double-cleanse

Do the double-cleanse

We've all had those days when we grab a face wipe and go. But if you've been wearing a lot of makeup or been sweating it out at the gym, you'll be in need of more than a quick rinse.

Enter double-cleansing. Start with a gentle cleansing oil or milk to remove makeup, then follow up with a foam or gel to rid the skin of daily impurities. Use a muslin cloth that gently exfoliates as you wash.

If you're not keen on shelling out on two separate products, make your face wash work harder by using it twice in a row. Once your skin is thoroughly clean, serums and moisturisers will be more easily absorbed. Hello, rosy glow.
